Top Tips for TipTop Families
To support the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP), Ealing Council and NHS Ealing have joined forces to deliver a series of free workshops throughout the borough to help support families to eat well, move more and live longer. Recently published results from the NCMP for the 2008/2009 school year found that 12% of reception age children (4-5 year olds) and 22% of year 6 age children (10-11 year olds) in Ealing are classed as obese; rates that are amongst some of the highest in London. Soon local results for Ealing 2009/2010 will be ready to disseminate and parents/carers will be receiving letters to inform them of their child's height and weight. To support this a series of Top Tips for Tip Top Families will be run at at local venues across the borough throught the months of February and March; giving families who have concerns about their own , or their child's, weight the opportunity to learn more about healthy eating, physical activity and local services. Sessions include practical tips on portion sizes, label reading and how to become more active as a family. The workshop invitations will be sent out along with the NCMP letters to inform parents of the workshops.
All sessions are FREE of charge, welcome the whole family and will be held at the following locations:
