Physical Education Print E-mail

PE at Brentside High School is considered to be an extremely important part of a child's education in terms of improving their understanding and performance in physical activity and by improving their health and well-being.  As such we fulfil the Government's suggested guideline of providing at least two hours of PE every week for all our students.

  • Key Stage 3 students are given the opportunity to experience many different physical activities which focus on improving each child's ability to:
  1. Outwit opponents
  2. Explore and communicate ideas, concepts and emotions.
  3. Perform at maximum levels
  4. Identify and solve problems to overcome challenges of an adventurous nature
  5. Exercise safely and effectively to improve health and well-being
  • During Key Stage 4 all students will follow either the GCSE PE short course or the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Improving Personal Exercise and Nutrition.  For those who have a particular interest in PE and would like to pursue a career or go into further education in the world of sport we also offer the BTEC First Certificate in Sport which is the equivalent to passing two GCSEs at grade A* to C.  Each student will undertake a wide range of practical activities and will be required to sit a short examination or complete written coursework depending on which course they take.

Our examination courses in PE cater for the full range of ability levels and aim to make PE both enjoyable and stimulating whilst providing each student with a nationally recognised qualification.
