ENGLISH as an ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE service

Brentside has many bilingual and multilingual students. Some of these students have recently arrived in the country while others have been here for several years. The EAL Service provides intensive English lessons for recent arrivals. As their English improves students are gradually integrated into mainstream lessons.

Family Learning

Brentside is the only Secondary School in Ealing that offers English Classes for adults too. Classes run on Wednesdays from 4.00-5.30. Parents and family members study for certificates in ESOL at Entry 1,2 and 3. Older children can also stay for an extra English lesson. A creche is provided for children from 4-11.

Homework & Revision Club

Homework can be difficult for students learning English. The EAL Service provides help with homework before and after school. Before exams and tests, guided revision sessions are offered.

Community Language GCSE & "A" Level

In many cases, students can take GCSE and "A" level exams in their heritage language. Brentside is very proud of the excellent examination results achieved by our students in many languages.

In-class Support

The EAL Service also offers support to students in class, working along side subject specialists, helping students to fulfil their potential and improve their grades.
