Drama Print E-mail

Brentside High School has a strong Drama tradition, both inside and outside the classroom. All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 have a weekly Drama lesson and many study it at GCSE level. Students are also able to take Drama at AS and A2 ("A") level. Our examination results are consistently good.

drama_quoteStudents develop skills in making, performing and evaluating Drama across a range of topics and using a range of forms. Students work on texts as well as devising their own drama, exploring naturalism, physical theatre with lighting and sound. Blackout, mask work and much more. We have two specialist drama spaces including a fully equipped Drama studio.

Extra-Curricular Drama

All students have the opportunity to participate in Drama activities outside lesson time. These include drama clubs, participation in whole school productions and trips to the theatre, such as the Lyric in Hammersmith. We have strong links with professional theatre companies, who run workshops for our students. We also run an after school drama club each week.

Drama Performances

drama_posterOur Drama performances range from small scale performances in class to full scale school productions. All GCSE, AS and A2 level students perform their practical exam pieces to the public as well as the examiner.

The Annual School Production

This is a major event for the Expressive Arts team and for the whole School. Many students from all year groups contribute, not only performing but in set design, lighting, costume, music and production. In previous years, we have performed 'Romeo and Juliet', 'The Wizard of Oz' , 'Charlie and the chocolate factory'. Our most recent production Bugsy Malone was performed 12 - 14th February 2008.
