The teaching staff are all concerned for the welfare and progress of the student community. To ensure that students have at least one teacher who sees them regularly, can support their learning, can have an overview of their achievement, be aware of difficulties if they arise and take positive action at an early stage, the School has a strong tutorial system.
The staff in the Student Welfare Office assist the teaching staff in caring for students in the following ways:
-
by monitoring punctuality at the start of the School day
-
by contacting parents if the School has not been informed of the reason for a student's absence
-
by administering First Aid should this be necessary
-
by caring for students if they are ill
-
by contacting parents if the teaching staff consider that a child should be sent home
-
by providing a counseling service, where appropriate
